Color Blockin {Part 1}

Everyone has there own sense of style and not one person is exempt from that rule. Some people are so stylish, they can strike out on their own and influence the world to see their personal fashion expression as another person's own. Do I dare consider myself stylish? OF COURSE! Here are a few quick facts about my own personal style. Summed up, I have about three different extremes:

  1. I am extremely detailed {think Givenchy Couture or Elie Saab}
  2. Plain & Simple {sometimes simplicity is genius}
  3. EXTREMELY COLORFUL
It's the later of that list which brings me to my point. A major trend that recurs every season is color. Be it the royal purple of winter or aquamarine blue of summer. Color is something that fashion can not live without. Spring is one of the seasons that gives you a broader paintbrush when it comes to color. When you reflect on seasons past, its the only season where you can incorporate dark colors and those beautiful pastels and neon's. One of this Springs biggest trends happens to be color blocks. Here are some of my faves:

CFDA.Vogue Fund & GAP

For ages now it seems like I have been on the quest to find the perfect white blouse. I have ran into ones that are super stiff {you know, like cardboard}, too sheer {50 thread count sheer}, too basic. Well you know where I'm going with this one; all of the shirts were horrible. They really sucked, well up until the CFDA/ Vogue Fund winners teamed up with Gap to produce a line of blouses last year. And alas, my search was over. Perfection. Functionality, femininity and romance all intertwined in the woven threads of 10 white shirts. Doo.Ri, Thakoon, and Rodarte were the masterminds behind the immaculate blouses that were only sold in select Gap flagship stores. All of whom were CFDA Fund winners and quite naturally I wanted to buy every shirt, which were surprisingly affordable.

Let's fast forward a year. Three As Four, Philip Crangie Jewelry, Band Of Outsiders, Michael Bastain and Phillip Lim are the new kids on block. I like this crop of shirts and that's the problem. I just like them and nothing more. There is nothing screaming at me telling me to jump up and go buy them. I'm left feeling somewhat disappointed, almost hurt. It's not all bad news. Philip Lim's shirts are beautiful {AS ALWAYS} and Band of Outsiders has a perfectly tailor-made design. Maybe my style has changed and I'm over reacting.

The Bags

Alrighty then, you know how hard it was trying to pick just a few handbags? I tried to pick a few bags and it was really hard and I hope I never, ever have to do it again! Who the heck am I trying to fool? You KNOW I go crazy over handbags and shoes. I'm limited to 3 so I'll just take you inside the madness of my (abbreviated) spring bag shopping. Focusing on Tote Bags. Remember there are affordable versions to every trend you see. That being said, On with the madness! (Don't worry, we'll revisit the subject later on) We've got tons of different styles: Hobo's, Clutches, Sacs, etc.

"Your remedy is within you, but you do not sense it.
Your sickness is from you, but you do not perceive it.
You presume you are a small entity,
But within you is enfolded the entire universe.

You are indeed the evident book,
By whose alphabet the hidden becomes manifest.

Therefore, you have no need to look beyond yourself,
What you seek is within you, if only you reflect."

The Resurgence of ICEBERG

Going to private school, I really didn't have to worry about wasting a lot of money on clothes. {yea, right} But of course being a teenager I was totally style/ fashion obsessed. Which brings me to my point, one of those clothing labels that I had a big crush on then was Iceberg, more specifically, their Iceberg History line. The company was started in 1962 by Silvo and Giuliana Gerani and is part of the Italian Gilmar group. Their line is synonymously know because of their capability to play with knits and later branching off into garments, perfume and furniture.

As I stated before the company gained a different following when they launched the Iceberg History brand, which featured America's most beloved Saturday Morning cartoons on it's trendy garments. {my ex even had a black Goofy Iceberg sweater} But about two seasons after Iceberg History came and went, the brand as a whole went back into quite seclusion. Not being seen on the runways since 2000

Imagine my surprise while thumbing through my April Harper's Bazaar, I saw a full two page spread. I couldn't contain my excitement. Hopefully the new ad campaign is a sign of good things to come and not another inkling that they are back only to fade away into the night like a thief.

Vivaty works with just about all popular social networking sites and lets you chat live, complete with a Second-Life style avatar! Imagine—your REAL Facebook friends will “come to life” as cartoon avatars! You get to navigate around different virtual locations, like the beach or creepy gothic warehouses—essentially, for whatever your personality type, there’s a place you’d like to spend time.
“With videogame-like precision, they can then navigate that virtual space, which may feature their Facebook photos hanging from the walls and a YouTube video playing on a widescreen TV. Up to 15 others can choose avatars and enter the same room at the same time for text-based live socializing.”
Essentially, it’s like Second Life or World of Warcraft, but without any installations—you can access it from any computer at any time.
