Happy Memorial Day
Let us come together and honor the many men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Regardless to branch of service, civilian or military. They have all given that one thing that we still have...Life. Let us not forget the widows and the orphans, nor the obviously and not so obviously wounded of whose lives are forever changed.
To this day I wonder if all of the soldiers that I drove to the airfield to leave for Iraq made it back home. And quietly, I wished it was me going over to Iraq. It was not my fate to go over to Iraq, however not a day goes by that I wish I had. I volunteered for all the jobs that I could hear of in Iraq but God just would not have it that way. So I had to serve here, stateside. I made friends with the returning troops. Got them whatever they needed and listened to their stories of a battlefield that I never saw.
I served in the Army. I know that there were many people who served and never even put on a uniform. I realize that there are countless Americans who would have served if they could have served and for that I say thank you. If no one else does.
Thank you to everyone who has put the uniform on, those who haven't but still found ways to serve. Thank you for being there. Most of all thank you to all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, MAY YOU NOW KNOW PEACE.
