OMFG!!!! Gossip Girl

Spotted: Highly risque promotional editorials featuring Manhattans finest group of teens from the Upper East Side in the heat of a passionate moment. Don't let your parents get a hold of this one...

xoxo Gossip Girl

Seriously, I've always wanted to do that. {Kristen Bell, I'm coming for you} Getting to the point of things, the CW Network has recently started running a print campaign, as well as televised, in anticipation of the coveted show's return on April 21st. The OMFG {Oh My F**king God} is the R-rated version and is currently running in Us Weekly magazine.

However, don't fret, one of the TV campaigns are PG-13 and say OMG, rather than OMFG. {same meaning, just remove the f**king} While the alternate coincides with the print OMFG ads and focuses on the most intimate details. See it here.

The CW network has issued a statement in anticipation of a possible backlash:

“We wanted to create a provocative campaign that stands out from the competition and reminds viewers of some of the OMG moments that have made ‘Gossip Girl’ one of the most buzzed about new shows on television. This sexy, sophisticated campaign speaks directly to our adult 18-34 viewers, using expressions that are part of their lexicon.”

If I Were King

"Can I just say how much I l.o.v.e. Diddy {Sean "Diddy" Combs}. I love him for the way he continues to reinvent himself year after year, to make sure that he is his own hottest commodity. I love how for all of his arrogance, you still see that journalism student at Howard University fighting for that one chance, that one day when the world will see him shine. This is why I love Diddy. This is why I love Sean Combs. This is why you will love Sean John." -Lexie H., FE Magazine 2008

I know my above diction to him sounds a little cliche but you have to admit, he is a force to be reckoned with. In case you missed it last Wednesday, MTV aired a documentary about Sean
Diddy Combs' most recent fashion show for his Sean John empire. The documentary entitled, If I Were King aired at 10pm EST and several times since {and knowing MTV will air about 50 more times within the next 30 days}. This is a MUST SEE in the world of fashion. It takes you through all the stages involved in designing, bringing paper characters to dress form {the mannequin often seen donning a designers work} and finally to the runway. In the documentary, you will see Diddy often refer to the truth in fashion and see him in the designing phases. And as always you see his temper flare and not for the satisfaction of an ego but for thirst quenching perfection. The documentary also takes on such issues as the lack of African Americans on the fashion runways. Below is a little teaser of the documentary. You can view If I Were King in its entirety on MTV.com

Stylish Little Bags

Mother's Day is coming up (aahemm!) and you know handbags are a definite "do" for me. I was looking through some things that I had stored away the other day and I saw this round, large (about a big as a dinner platter) straw, handbag, with leather handles on it. It's beautifully made and I don't know how much my grandmother paid for it or even who made the bag, but it would go for a pretty penny today! So it is in the tradition of that straw bag that I found that I bring to you today's bag's. Updated but still very chic and stylish. So here's to you Grandma, the woman that gave me her style as well as the ability to love.

Although this bag is made of leather, it still gives you that woven wicker feel. It's by Christian Dior. It's called their "Samurai 1947" Bag.
This one will set you back a bit but just remember the styles are always repeated in a much more affordable way elsewhere. This bag is available at Christian Dior, and e-luxury.

This bag is so much like my grandmothers bag it's scary. With the exception of the shape, this IS my Grandmother's bag! Just viualize it being about 14 inches round. This bag has all the features (besides the cell phone pocket) that my Grandmother's bag has. I know my Grandmothers bag is a good 70 years old, but it is in excellent shape. An uncanny resemblance right down to the closure! It's by Hobo International. They call it their " Vertical Basket Satchel." It's got twisted faux-tortoiseshell handle tops an angular wicker satchel with a soft leather flap top. The bag itself is made out of wicker and leather. It is available at Nordstrom, E-Luxury, and Saks Fifth Avenue.

Now you know in true shopper style, I just had to bring your attention to the following bags. It wouldn't be like me if I didn't. This Christian Louboutin "Small Satin Chain Bowler" stopped me in my tracks. Now, for me, that's a bag! It kind of reminds me of the change purses I used to see when I was growing up. Be honest this bags reminds you of your Grandmother too---in a good way! Available at Christian Louboutin, Nordstrom, and e-luxury.

This little bag is by Goldenblue. It's called their "Audra Patent Clutch."
Another one that reminds of Grandma and all the other ladies I knew way back when. It has a Patent leather with contrast quilted embroidery, polished gold metal hardware, link chain shoulder strap, removable coin pouch on front; attaches to bag with four snap closures, frame top with kiss-lock closure, suede lining, golden nameplate and dangling key clasp inside. It just takes me back! In a good way. It is available at e-luxury.

This whole experience just goes to show you to that you should never throw anything having to do with style and fashion out, you never know when it's going to come back or in what interpertation. Style just repeats itself in different interpretations at different seasons. If you get well made pieces they will be around for future generations to enjoy.

La Perla

The spring and summer ‘08 Lovers & Dragons collection for La Perla includes Black Label features the are wearable art.
This example is an ornate metal bra that features two golden dragons fastened together with black satin ribbon.
Perhaps this bra is a tad lavish, and likely uncomfortable (watch out for those little wings), but there are many more sensible styles to crave from La Perla’s extensive line.

Who Wears Short Shorts?!?!?!

With each summer that comes and goes, so does a mass of trends and skin. And this summer is no different and showing a lot of skin, well leg, is going to be really in. If you happen to be one of the leggy girls go a head and break out {or dust off some} your super short shorts. Older generations refer to them as hot pants, but they are back in style with modern twist such as fine tailoring, high waists and cuffs. There is a fine line between this sunny summer staple and looking trashy, buyer beware. The key to pulling this off is to 1. Make sure that you aren't exposing any cheek 2. Selecting the right style for your body type 3. Feeling confident when you where them 4. Reminding yourself that this is not something everyone can pull off. {Even though we like to believe we can pull of any look} Enjoy some of our faves:
