Think You Can Impress Giorgio?

Jealous much? Well you might be soon. Signore Armani is looking for the next Mondino to design, create and execute a television ad campaign for the Emporio Fragrances line. He wants would-be directors with massive creative skill that are fresh faces to apply.

The search amounts from Emporio Fragrances ten year anniversary. He would like to invite directors in the US, UK, Italy, France and Germany to enter the contest. A total of ten finalist will be chosen to go before the legendary Armani, who will also choose the winner. Mind you, he is no sleeper in the cinema world {Armani supports Scorsese's World Cinema Foundation as well}.

I advise everyone to take a look at the site, even if you decide not to enter the contest. I'm quite sure you will see some enthusiastic and budding talent on the horizon, maybe even the next Spielberg. You can view more information at www.emporioarmaniparfums.com/contest. Once at the site, users will be able to vote for their favorite clips which will be taken into account when it's time for judging.

Earth Day

A lot of people are reflecting on contributions they can make to create a greener planet with Earth Day. One of the simplest things people can do is to select organic when purchasing consumer goods, and that doesn’t just pertain to food, although that’s mostly what this piece highlights.
If you have the option, it’s always best to buy locally in order to offset carbon emissions as well as support local farmers. With regard to food, it helps you to eat in season as well, a concept many modern nutrients endorse.
Be aware too of packaging; avoid it where possible, but when there’s no choice, try to select things that have been packaged in biodegradable or recycled materials.
Try composting. It's good for the earth and you'll be so surprised just how much of your money you WON'T be wasting. Join a river, lake or ocean cleanup effort. The waterways can get so pulleted. Think about the waterways like they're natures fish tank. Now do you really want to leave someones dirty diaper in there? No, I didn't think so. Pick it up when you see it and throw it away. We know you didn't discard every beer can, plastic pop bottle, and every other form of human waste imaginable but PLEASE won't you be your RESPONSIBLE SELF and pick it up anyway and dispose of it properly? Try to leave things not only like they were when you came along, but better than they were before you came along. It was really an unspoken rule when I grew up. Be kind to mother earth and she will be kind to you. It's really about RAISING AWARENESS. As with anything once we bring our AWARENESS to the situation we can change the situation for the better. It's all about making everyday a "HAPPY EARTH DAY!"

VES-PA To Work (Or Bike)

As seen yesterday, The F*Word has dedicated a whole week to Earth Day. By us being uber nerdy, tree-hugging, earth freaks and all; we wanted to show everyone out there how to be fashionable without causing a ton of damage to the earth. Now, the climatic point: Don't you hate getting up every morning, dragging yourself out of bed only to get stuck on the 405 {if you're in LA}, ALL of Manhattan or whatever street that helps you access where you're going a tad bit easier only to have it clogged by tons of other people? There's no denying that spring is here so why not opt for a more earth conscious ride around town. Besides everybody's doing it. {I know, I can dish out the peer pressure}
