Earth Day

A lot of people are reflecting on contributions they can make to create a greener planet with Earth Day. One of the simplest things people can do is to select organic when purchasing consumer goods, and that doesn’t just pertain to food, although that’s mostly what this piece highlights.
If you have the option, it’s always best to buy locally in order to offset carbon emissions as well as support local farmers. With regard to food, it helps you to eat in season as well, a concept many modern nutrients endorse.
Be aware too of packaging; avoid it where possible, but when there’s no choice, try to select things that have been packaged in biodegradable or recycled materials.
Try composting. It's good for the earth and you'll be so surprised just how much of your money you WON'T be wasting. Join a river, lake or ocean cleanup effort. The waterways can get so pulleted. Think about the waterways like they're natures fish tank. Now do you really want to leave someones dirty diaper in there? No, I didn't think so. Pick it up when you see it and throw it away. We know you didn't discard every beer can, plastic pop bottle, and every other form of human waste imaginable but PLEASE won't you be your RESPONSIBLE SELF and pick it up anyway and dispose of it properly? Try to leave things not only like they were when you came along, but better than they were before you came along. It was really an unspoken rule when I grew up. Be kind to mother earth and she will be kind to you. It's really about RAISING AWARENESS. As with anything once we bring our AWARENESS to the situation we can change the situation for the better. It's all about making everyday a "HAPPY EARTH DAY!"
