Here's a little trend I almost forgot to tell you about.
Considered to be one of the most iconic sneakers of all time, the Chuck Taylor has been kicking it for 91 years and counting. Definitely a favorite amongst musicians due to its classic, simple styling. As part of their music series this year, Converse releases a collection of Black Sabbath joints. Keeping it simple two pairs of Chuck Taylors are seen in a black and white colorway alongside a 4-strap Jack Purcell Hi reminiscent of the Nathan Cabrera for Dr. Romanelli’s seen a couple of years back. All three have hit select Converse accounts. Journey's has one style for pre-order and you can pick the other styles up November 1, 2008 at the Converse website.

$34 Million Net---From Bankruptcy Sale
Shoe Pavillion Inc. said late on Monday that it will close all of its 64 stores after a liquidation sale.
The Sherman Oaks-based discount shoe store filed for bankruptcy in July and joins Mervyns LLC of Hayward and Linens-N-Things Inc. of Clifton, N.J., on a growing list of major retailers that are shutting down this year.
U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Maureen Tighe approved the liquidation order Friday to have 10 to 12 weeks of sales run by a joint venture group of Great American Group LLC of Los Angeles, SB Capital Group LLC of Great Neck, N.Y.; Tiger Capital Group LLC of Boston and Hudson Capital Partners LLC of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The liquidation is expected to bring in $36.3 million.
Shoe Pavilion had been in business for 29 years and at one time had 117 stores. The company has stores outside of California in Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas and Washington. Signs in the store at Sansome and California streets in San Francisco’s Financial District said, “Everything must go.”
“It is always tough to close down stores, but consumers will benefit from the extreme discounts on every item in the stores until all the merchandise is sold,” Danny Kane, managing member of Tiger Capital Group, said in a news release Monday.
OK, only in these times can we see a liquidation sale of $34 Million and it still not be enough to save the corporation! Simply staggering amounts of money being lost. Now I wonder who's on the other side of the loot!

Designer Dolls
(PARIS) From November 18--23, the Petit Palais, which just played host to a Patrick Demarchelier exhibition last week, will host dozens of "sweet face" dolls created by the world's top designers to benefit UNICEF's vaccination programs. Some of the designers include BCBG Max Azria, Carolina Herrera, Céline, Chanel, Chloé, Christian Dior, Christian Lacroix, Dolce & Gabbana, Dries van Noten, Emanuel Ungaro, Emilio Pucci, Giorgio Armani, Gucci, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Lanvin, Louis Vuitton, Moschino, Nina Ricci, Oscar de la Renta, Prada, Salvatore Ferragamo, Sonia Rykiel, Stella McCartney, Versace, and Yves Saint Laurent.
This year marks the sixth anniversary of the Frimousses de Createurs event, which last year raised 220,000 Euros for the cause. The funds helped to create 250 centers in Darfur dedicated to vaccinating under-five-year-olds against the six most deadly childhood diseases: tuberculosis, measles, polio, diphtheria, whooping cough, and tetanus. To date, the charitable venture has vaccinated over 31,000 children.

Vogue's Stranger In A Strange Land
While W Magazine’s cover shot of Angelina Jolie breastfeeding taken by Brad Pitt is getting all the buzz right now, the October 2008 issue of Vogue Nippon features a less buzzed bu Styled by Anastasia Barbieri in true haute couture that is worthy of a Vogue editorial, model Carmen Kass is captured by talented photographer Yelena Yemchuk as a European or American in Japan. In addition to the exquisite couture fashion, the art direction of the shoot adds a subtle yet deep dimension that transcends an otherwise typical fashion shoot into a captivating story. Repaved For Paciotti
Cesare Paciotti has revamped and redesigned his Madison Avenue boutique, so what better way to celebrate than with (ahem) a cocktail party? On October 16, the luxe new 2,000 square foot flagship will reopen. Inspired by the interior of a jewelry box, it will feature translucent white crystalline marble flooring, a mirrored ceiling framed with a baroque border, and custom-made LED illuminated glass display cases. "It's a new beginning for Cesare Paciotti in the U.S.," said a spokesperson for the brand, "and this renovation and change of layout concept marks a rebirth of the brand."
The boutique, which will serve as design models for all future Cesare Paciotti boutiques along with the recently renovated London store, will carry both men's and women's shoes along with handbags, small leather accessories, eyewear, and jewelry. But though the trademark dagger motif might seem a bit aggressive, not to worry-the designer has a softer side as well. The opening party, which will be hosted by Mary Alice Stephenson, Annabel Tollman, Lucy Sykes, Amanda Ross and Barbara Wilhelm Dwek, will benefit nonprofit organization Free Arts NYC."Once you choose hope, anything's possible."---Christopher Reeve

We've been anxiously awaiting Diesel's "Dirty Thirty" anniversary bash for quite awhile, and given its imminent arrival, only one question remains--what to wear? Diesel's taken care of that, too. On Friday, limited-edition $50 jeans will be going on sale at Diesel stores nationwide. Expect a frenzy of shoppers trying to take advantage of the chic steal; the Dirty Thirty jeans will feature a back patch embroidered with "xXx," side embroidery with the dates 1978-2008, and customized buttons with "Diesel 1978."
As for Saturday's fête? Diesel's 24-hour global party will end with an epic bash in New York. The Rock and Roll Circus-themed party, held on Pier 3 on the Brooklyn Waterfront, will feature music by Benji and Joel Madden, Chaka Kahn, Franz Ferdinand, Hot Chip, M.I.A., and N.E.R.D. Everyone from models Agyness Deyn and Chanel Iman, to Gossip Girl stars Chace Crawford, Ed Westwick, and Taylor Momsen, to socials Lauren Santo Domingo and the Traina sisters are expected to show.
