Designer Dolls

UNICEF partners with designers to finance vaccinations

(PARIS) From November 18--23, the Petit Palais, which just played host to a Patrick Demarchelier exhibition last week, will host dozens of "sweet face" dolls created by the world's top designers to benefit UNICEF's vaccination programs. Some of the designers include BCBG Max Azria, Carolina Herrera, Céline, Chanel, Chloé, Christian Dior, Christian Lacroix, Dolce & Gabbana, Dries van Noten, Emanuel Ungaro, Emilio Pucci, Giorgio Armani, Gucci, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Lanvin, Louis Vuitton, Moschino, Nina Ricci, Oscar de la Renta, Prada, Salvatore Ferragamo, Sonia Rykiel, Stella McCartney, Versace, and Yves Saint Laurent.

This year marks the sixth anniversary of the Frimousses de Createurs event, which last year raised 220,000 Euros for the cause. The funds helped to create 250 centers in Darfur dedicated to vaccinating under-five-year-olds against the six most deadly childhood diseases: tuberculosis, measles, polio, diphtheria, whooping cough, and tetanus. To date, the charitable venture has vaccinated over 31,000 children.
