As layoffs continue to rock the publishing industry, some highly-regarded fashion reporters are finding themselves suddenly unemployed. The Wall Street Journal has closed its fashion bureau. While Christina Binkley and Lisa Bannon will stay on board, the desk's remaining 8 staff members including Teri Agins and Cheryl Tan have been let go, effective at the end of March. At that time, they will be invited to reapply for 3 open positions at the paper and the remaining 5 will leave the company. "We are closing our fashion bureau but will continue to cover fashion and retail by reassigning some but not all of our current staff," confirmed a Dow Jones spokesperson. It remains to be seen which members will be covering the upcoming round of shows in New York, London, Paris and Milan.
I just can't stand to look anymore......I guess only the strong will survive.
