On Dec 5th Zac Posen's latest effort for Pre Fall 2009 debuted. Let's hope his return to the end of the depression era clothing is just that a literal sign of the times. That being said, I love the way he has interpreted the looks. Although I think the entire collection is outstanding, my favorite is this first number, it's a classy little cocktail number done up with fringe embellishments and a belt to match.

Fierce people!!! To see the entire collection go to Style.com.

Victor Carranza Equals Marilyn Monroe?
Marilyn Monroe may already be a fashion inspiration to many (Lindsay Lohan's leggings, perhaps?), but now, she's about to have a renaissance: designer Victor Carranza (who created many custom designs for Monroe herself) is launching House of Monroe, a luxury collection inspired by the icon. The brand's licensees have obtained the master license from the Marilyn Monroe estate, and are the only companies with the actual rights to reproduce Monroe's image. In addition to House of Monroe, which will be sold at upscale retailers like Bergdorf Goodman, a contemporary line of jeans and tees called Norma Jeane is being launched, and will be carried at stores like Atrium.

Karl Lagerfeld's Silent Chanel Movie
Where in the world does Mr. Lagerfeld get his inspiration? It is a SUPERB IDEA ! His homage to the founder of Chanel, Coco in a cool and classy screening in Paris on Wednesday night of a Silent Chanel Movie. The film – short in length at 10 minutes, but big in ideas and budget – is entitled "Paris Moscow." He takes it a step further and uses the occasion to show his Pre Fall 2009 Collection!
Lagerfeld designed the stage set for the movie he directed! “There are so many films about Chanel being made this year," Lagerfeld told Fashion Wire Daily. "I thought it only right we make one. And with the Internet and thus people looking at silent images all the time, a silent movie seemed right. No?”
The movie is divided into parts – separated by Great War footage – with the second half featuring many of Karl’s best mates in a 1923 night dance club, whose décor made up the set in the theatre. Thus, the film was also a tremendous in-joke since it featured fetish model Brad Koenig playing the Grand Duke, muse Lady Amanda Harlech, a wealthy client in the film, and favourite DJ Michel Gaubert emoting as a “troubled man” in the night club, as Coco bats her eye lashes at her lover in the artificially scratched and faded short.
There seems to be no end to this man's creative ability. That's why I love him so much. He's always got his eye on the ball and just when you think he can't possibly come up with something to top the last thing he's done, SURPRISE! He's constantly innovating, consistently designing clothes that are simply stunning. I am in utter amazement every time Karl comes up with something new. It all seems so effortless. It is the genius world of Karl Lagerfeld.

Here's a cute big bag. And it's on sale too.
Juicy's got the cutest take on terry cloth this year. I like the ruffles. Just that little bit of something extra makes this robe.
Now who said booties were short on style?

Madonna For Louis Vuitton's

Madonna and Marc: When Marc Jacobs found himself in a meeting on a recent Monday morning to brainstorm about Louis Vuitton’s next fashion advertising campaign, inspiration struck. “I just blurted out, ‘I think we should do Madonna,’” said the designer, Vuitton’s creative director, mentioning he’d attended a concert by the pop icon the night before in Paris. “I was totally just blown away by it, and moved by her performance, by what she had to say, and her energy.”
As the meeting went on, Jacobs tapped out a message to Madonna on his BlackBerry, and within about five minutes came the reply: “I’d love to.”
The result is six atmospheric pictures of a smoldering Madonna by Steven Miesel that will break in a range of fashion magazines in February. “It’s a big change from what we were doing. It tells a story,” said Antoine Arnault, Vuitton’s director of communications. “This I think is an amazing coup, but more than that, there’s real logic behind it. It’s very linked to Marc’s fashion show.”
Although Arnault declined to give figures, he said media budgets for the fashion campaign would be on par with a year ago. And he dismissed as “absurd” reports pegging Madonna’s fees at $10 million. “It’s very far away from that,” he assured.
The campaign marks the end of Vuitton’s six-year collaboration with photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, with the parting characterized as amicable, and another reunion for long-time collaborators Madonna and Meisel. Jacobs last worked with Meisel in his Perry Ellis days. (Arnault noted it’s “very probable” Vuitton’s association with Meisel will continue.)
The campaign takes the very Parisian theme of Jacobs’ hit spring Vuitton collection, with a smoky French bistro the setting, and the sepia-toned images evoking a Brassai atmosphere. “As cliché as they are, I love all these French references,” the designer said. (Although the restaurant, Figaro, is on North Vermont Avenue in Los Angeles).
“I still feel it looks like beautiful, gorgeous Madonna,” Jacobs said about the images. “Excepting the references and excepting the clichés, this still feels very today. And it didn’t feel so much like a fashion shoot, it feels like portraits.”
The shoot wrapped up in less than a day and without incident, although Jacobs said hordes of paparazzi literally “appeared out of the bushes” the moment Madonna arrived. “It went from a quiet street to complete chaos,” he said.
The designer also marveled at the singer’s incredible fitness that allowed her to recline, her back arched, on bentwood chairs, or shoot a leg straight up in the air, no sweat. “She’s so sure of herself as an icon and as a woman. It was her idea to do the fishnets,” Jacobs said. “What fascinates me the most about her is her never-ending energy, and the idea of becoming and changing. She’s an artist who’s unafraid to use her voice.”

Arnault said the fashion campaign would appear “very strongly” in February and March issues and with few changes in media placements. “We’re staying on target,” he stressed.
The first visuals will spotlight slouchy bags in monogram canvas and monogram-embossed leather, along with ethnic-inspired sandals, bangles and sexy ready-to-wear. In tandem, Vuitton will continue to run its “core values” campaign, with spots featuring Sean Connery, the latest celebrity spokesman, continuing into next year. Analysts have estimated Vuitton spends more than $250 million annually on advertising, most of it print-driven.

Ok, I'll admit it, I was not a fan of this particular necklace when my girlfriend describe it to me over the phone. It was when I saw how it hangs that I said: "Ok, I think I like it." (Not to be taken out of context)
