Where Did You Get That Hat???

Aaaahhhh Spring!!! I don't care what the calendar says, IT'S SPRING, and nobody is going to tell me it's not! For real.....all this snow, I'll be even more delirious than I already am if I just wait for it to stop snowing. Enough already! No more snow, EVER! It's early March so I say IT'S SPRING! Time to think flowers, and dresses, and hats. You know, Easter, the Kentucky Derby, and a Mint Julep. I remember when you weren't dressed until you had your hat and gloves on. That's how we went to church and that's how the Kentucky Derby's done too. If you ask me any excuse is a good excuse to wear a hat. We have to go to our secret sources to tell you where some of the WORLD'S BEST HAT'S are. Now for some people it's kind of hard to tell exactly what a particular hat is going to look like on unless you try it on. Most women I know who have been wearing hats for a while are experienced enough to buy a hat without ever trying it on. You can do it too, even if you've never worn a hat before in your life. Just visualize yourself in the hat in various different positions on your head. To the side, straight on, leaning to the rear, leaning to the front, etc. The more you try on hats the better you'll get at it. You know I want to show you more pictures but this is a blog so I'll just give you some sites: For the pink hat go to: http://www.jillhenningshats.com/ For the black hat go to:http://www.delmarhat.com/ For the purple hat go to:http://www.hat-a-tude.com/ For the orange hat go to:http://www.deescrafts.com/ Want more? Rain, Rain Go Away

Rain, Rain go away come back another day! Like tomorrow, so I can rock this Trench Coat by Burberry! So many beautiful coats, so little time to wear them all. Burberry has really done it right though. Out of all the collections I looked at, Burberry seems to be the one that has a little bit of everything in it this year. Their coats are wearable, yet fashionable and they even past the investment test. Their "Trench Coat Dress" with it's stylish, yet playful hemline is a must have for this season. I will definitely buy this coat! Like, as soon as I get through writing this article. I like Burberry's "Short Checked Trench" and their "Checked Trench." For investment pieces I would by the "Cromwell," and their "TrenchCoat," both classics. Absolutely, LOVE Burberry's "Double Breasted Trench,""Military Coat," "Trench Jacket," and "Laminated Jacket." The last four coats I mentioned are available at Nieman Marcus & Saks Fifth Avenue. I was able to get in touch with customer service from both Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue and both are willing to A. Bring the coat in from another store (if they actually carry a particular coat)and B. order it for you. The first 5 coats I mentioned you'd do best to go to "Burberry Site." (if you have time to wait) Now if you didn't go gaa gaa over Burberry's collection of Trench Coats here are some other alternatives that are equally as stylish: Dana Buchman's Coats, "Trench Coat" was a definite winner available at Nieman Marcus. Ralph Lauren, Versace, Badgley Mischka, Marc Jacobs and Juicy Couture all recieve honorable mentions for theirTrench Coats in their ready to wear lines. When Bling Meets EEK!!! (A Twisted Art Tale)

I've know about this person for quite some time however as of late he seems to keep popping back into my frame of mind. Every time I turn to PBS (yes, I really watch it) or Discovery, he's even made it on to Style Network I see him, meaning Damien Hirst. It seems I missed the boat on this one because this man and his "artwork" (if you can call it that) is all the rage. So of course, I took sometime out to see what all of the fuss was about, turns out he makes some pretty controversial pieces that are supposed to make you think about the flaws of modern society and its necroticism. The only person that seems obsessed with death is him, especially with that of dead animals (he officially made me want to join PETA). He gained popularity off or pieces of art which were nothing more than dead, often maimed, animals preserved in formaldehyde. Now his most recent creation is the one that has garnered a lot of media attention. Apparently he used a real human skull cast in platinum and encompassed it with 8,601 diamonds, the piece is entitled "For The Love Of God." According to reports, it only cost Hirst $12 million to make the piece, but he sold it for nearly $120 million. I'm Sorry but this is definately a case when diamonds aren't a girls best friend (but despite my outrage, I still think this piece pretty cool).

**If you would like to view more of Damien Hirst feel free to visit his site at the Gagosian
Museum in New York.

*His most gruesome project to date is A Thousand Years, which features maggot hatching's that grow into full grown flies and feast on a severed cow head... EWWWWWW

This Is Fun (Not Really)

I'll admit it, I'm having the hardest time finding some swimwear I like, which is also making me dread my impending vacation. Then I remembered one of my truly guilty pleasures "Gossip Girl." Admit it, all of you have watched that show at least once be it for the fashion or the Cruel Intentions-esque vibe. I remember in the episode "School Lies" when Blair, Serena and their henchmen broke into the school pool, Serena had on this beautiful plunge V-neck swimsuit and Blair wore a preppy red polka dot bikini; then the quest began. A few months later and a lot of research and my quest has come to an end with wonderful results (OK, I admit, I could have been done a LOT sooner). The swimsuits that Serena and Blair wore in that episode have a modern twist on the classic swimsuits from the 1930's. This seems to be the trend this year so I am quite sure that I will be in good company this summer laying poolside with my sunhat. In case I forgot to mention before all you Gossip Girl addicts can expect the show to resume airing in mid-April. However, by that time I would have already snuck into their studio and kidnapped their costume designer then i'll have all of the cool clothes (HA HA HA)!

Timeless Handbags

Okay, I bought my first designer handbag when I was in the 9th grade and I have been in love with well made designer bags every since. It was a blue Gucci , with the monogram, and a red white & blue ribbon in the center, a sort of button with the Gucci label in it, which nobody can seem to believe I bought when I did! (I'm not tellin!, not even the name of the bag!) One Fashionista that I know asked me about that bag and I knew immediately that this person knows her stuff! My next bag was a Coach, black, with a little black coach tag hanging. My next was my absolute favorite, Louis Vuitton. So went my upward love of handbags (started not a moment too soon!) I learned that Louis Vuitton was founded in 1854 and was the hallmark of style and craftmanship. I also learned that it was the creme de la creme, the best of the best when it came to craftmanship. So that's what I'll focus on today. There is something to be said for those individuals who can buy an item today knowing that it will never go out of style. Not only is it satisfying, it makes it easy for you to approach all of your shopping in "investment mode." You should buy all of your clothing, shoes, jewlery, everything from someone who can bring you both style and fashion. And I mean "BRING IT." Let's take a look at some current styles of Louis Vuitton Bags. For Louis Vuitton's Handbag collection: Palemo Pm and Palemo GM are two bags that are classics. In the luggage line Alzier, Bisten and Cotteville are classics. So there you have it, the first three designers that I bought my handbags from way back in ....(I'm still not tellin!) Which were the top 3 designers of the moment and arguably today. For all you Fashionista's out there here's a list of some other popular hand bag sites: http://www.balenciaga.com/ http://www.burberry.com/ http://www.chanel.com/ http://www.chloe.com/ http://www.christiandior.com/ http://www.hermes.com/ http://www.jimmychoobags.com/ Of all the people in the world...NOT ONE...is more PRECIOUS, LOVED AND DESERVING...than YOU. Dress Of The Day

Sorry for the delay lovelies,

For the most part majority of the fashionista's out there live in bustling urban metropolises, which led me to our dress of the day. I remember struggling often to find dual purpose, femininity and functionality in clothes that I wore around the office. I am absolutely in love with Diane von Furstenberg's two-toned creation (along with the rest of her collection). The dress is tattooed with multi-purpose functionality. You can wear it to work on a nice spring day, not to mention if you don't have time to run home to change before that date (yes, that one) later on in the evening you can dress this up with a beautifully coordinated clutch. The ensemble is a showstopper, it combines the perfect match of modernism with a hint of classic Hollywood. Of course, you can find this beautiful creation (with the rest of Furstenberg's spring line) at Neiman Marcus and it currently runs for about $398.

Back To Black

It seems like the fall collections of several designers are taking a cue from Amy Winehouse and are heading back to black. I can't help but wonder what has everyone so gloomy? It's as if were going to a state funeral. I understand that it's fall and things must come to an end but so much grey and black is unnerving [can we say baaa-oooring]. But ahh yet there is hope,

Herve Leger for Max Azria added an interesting twist of fate. Azria, who acquired the house in 1998 Leger (aka Leroux) has managed to mix his flair with that of the icon. In order to make this 80's trend stand in the new age, he added pearls, pockets of bead, snippets of embroidery, all to give a feel that a modern actress would love to wear to her big premiere. However, simplicity is always genius, amethyst and periwinkle colored bands seemed to work out best for this classic. Lacroix (someone who I'm not often a fan of) somehow has seen the light. He played with color and found a way to perfectly intertwine boring fall black with rich jewel tones and pre-fall hues like royal blue, purple and you even saw some bright pink thrown into the mix. I guess I can finally give Lacroix my thumbs up!!!

Fast Cars, Fast Phones?

Is there something I'm missing?...

Apparently Nokia has teamed up with world-renowed automaker Lamborghini to make a one of a kind sleek and stylish phone. Lamborghini, an italian automaker, has been known for their uber-luxurious fast cars that only the rich could afford for decades. The phone is highly reminiscent of the Apple iPhone with its touchscreen properties and steel shell. However here are a few of the specifics that we found; this is a "new" limited edition Nokia 8800 Sirocco phone that features a stainless steel casing that is etched with Lamborghini's charging bull logo as well as the words "Automobili Lamborghini". The Lamborghini branding doesn't end there, either. The phone also comes with Lambo wallpaper graphics, engine-inspired ringtones and a short video documentary about their cars. "Ball bearings crafted by Lamborghini have been used, allowing a sophisticated slide mechanism" according to the phones manufacturers (so what you're telling me is parts of my car are in my phone). I bet all of the techno-geeks out there are wondering "HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?" Well at the current time we have not tracked down a price, but we do know that Nokia will only produce 500 of these exclusive phones, which will be sold through selected Lamborghini dealerships. This could only mean that you have to buy a car to get the phone. So my fellow fashionista's if you have $150k just lying around, I guess you could "pony-up" for this ultra sleek phone. I can hardly wait for the next fashion phone... (right, gag)
