Jackets For All @ Bottega

At Bottega Veneta, Tomas Maier chose the jacket as the star of the show for Spring/Summer 2009. Which lets me know that menswear next spring will be nice, easy and lax {when relax meets chill} with fabrics that were unstructured, loose and comfortable bursting forward with cool cottons, crisp hues and a laidback sense of style.The silhouettes also appeared to be a homage to the late Yves Saint Laurent and his vision of Parisian masculinity: wide-shouldered, double-breasted jackets paired with roomy white cotton trousers kept the look neat yet comfortable.

"We arrived at this collection by thinking quite literally about a day in the life of a contemporary man," says Maier.

New OId Vintage

I have always been a fan of my mothers closet for several reasons. One of them being that my mom was always the best dressed woman I knew. She stayed ahead of the trends and more often than not set them. And let's not even start on her shoe collection {one that could rival Choo and Manolo}. So imagine my dismay when my mother abruptly overhauled her closet and got rid of majority of her clothes and shoes. Luckily I managed to salvage two pairs of shoes and a dress. Considering that when growing up, our mothers closets are the pinnacle of our childhood dress up days, it's not surprising that vintage clothing is popular this season. {Which im kind of upset about}

There's a certain feeling that one gets when you have walked into a store and purchased a vintage article. Exclusivity. You leave know that you are one of a select few -or the only one- to own that particular item. Not to mention that majority of the older pieces are so well made. However, all vintage is not good vintage and you need to be able to tell the difference between the two. For starters make sure you buy from someone with a good reputation. Also make sure that you ask the seller the history of the clothing, like who's owned it and where it came from. There are a few vintage stores, as well as online stores, that I love. Below are a few {Click on pictures to go to the online store versions}:

Old Navy's Stunning Summer

I remember when Old Navy was a company that was know for its wholesale-like manner in selling poly-cotton blends to oodles of people each summer. {Remember the annual flag shirt with the year it was made on it} Old Navy was the best discount store. You could find all of what you essentially needed for summer if you were in your preteens and not a cool kid {let's face it, kids ask for the darndest things}. Years later, hundreds of fashion DO NOT'S later old Navy has started to revamp it's image for the modern woman. I've slowly been taking notes on what their doing, but the past two collections have really caught my eye. {each month they feature a new collection} July's collection is entitled "Stunning Summer." Take a look at the collection and let us know what you think:

Dress Of The Day

I walked outside my door the other day and I happened to notice that one of my tulips bloomed. Its just a small yellow dainty little thing, but it bloomed. Then I suddenly realized that it was spring and maybe I can finally break out my flip-flops {they're the only flat shoes I own sadly} or even better my high heel sandals, YES! Ok, well maybe it's a little too early for sandals. But if I can get away with them, this is the dress I would definitely wear with them.

Spring is the perfect time for flowers of course and that happens to be one of this years biggest trends. So it's only fitting that this Missoni Ninive dress has caught my eye. Im not big on a ton of floral prints and I'd rather have a simple flower encompassing the entire dress than million covering it. Plus with something simple like this it continues to gives off a youthful edge which allows it to flow between the edge brackets. Twenty somethings will probably opt to go bare legged, while thirty somethings will choose to belt it at the waist and match it with a nice pair of pants.

Perfect Spring/ Summer Nail Hues

{SNEAK PEAK ALERT}

They're at it again. {And you thought they wouldn't be} MAC is back with a new hott fire collection coming out in May. The collection will be called Neo Sci Fi, but that's not why I am bringing this up right now. It's the time of year when everyone is dumping their Chanel Blue Satin and Dior Midnight Poison & Poison Blue shades for something a little more lighthearted. Something geared a little more towards the birth of renewal, translation, Spring. Ironically, the MAC powerhouse has the perfect prescription. All four nail colors that will be featured in the Neo Sci Fi collection are perfect for spring {and summer}

The Four Colors Are:
  • Phosphor {Bumblebee Yellow}
  • Neon 8 {Orange with Orange Pearl}
  • Plasma Blu {Turquoise Blue with White Pearl}
  • Metalist {Brown with White Pearl}

However, I understand that sometimes waiting a whole month for something hot to hit the shelves in store can be a bit too much too bear. So in light of that, here are some alternatives until the funky flyy colors hit:

Opi Nail Color in DS Jewel (Pictured Left) & DS Treasure
Nars in Domiva
Sephora Brand Nail Polish in Iridescent Rosy Copper

Sally Hansen Hard As Nails in Marine Scene (Pictured Left) and Crushed Frost
Sephora Nail Lacquer in Mangue, Curacoa, Mrytelle
