You don't even have to guess this designer. It is Herve Leger by Max Azria. Just when I think I've seen all the ways a bandage dress can be made, they put a new spin on it!

The Other Side Of The Knee

Let's face it, sometimes summer gets a bum wrap. Sometimes it's too hot or too many thunderstorms. Or the women are showing too much skin and men don't understand the difference between golfing shorts and regular shorts. Well I can't fix every problem that summer might bring, but I can fix the one about the women not knowing when to cover up. I guess between the feminist movement of the 1970's and now some women have forgotten that its okay to cover up when things heat up. Yes, they really do make fashionable, sexy, conservative clothes for the summer. Everyone wants to rag on clothes that extend to the other side of the knee when its 90+ degrees outside, but I find that more often those are the very things that keep me the coolest. This is one of my tricks of the trade {besides, it fits in with the why men like the librarian vs the girl with the short shorts}

Diane's Foreign Affair

Autumn/Winter 2008-2009 will be an interesting affair for Diane von Furstenberg, more appropriately titled, "Foreign Affair" is the theme behind her most recent collection. "SHE always knew she would find her way through the rain drops...the mystery, the unknown, the infinite possibilities of a foreign affair," says Diane in the commentary for the shows notes. Her most recent collection dazzled the likes of Susan Sarandon, Rachel Zoe, Charlie Rose, Fran Lebowitz, LapoElkann, and others that attended the shoe in Bryant Park.

Foreign Affair is set in several locales that include Berlin, Shanghai and New York. Furstenberg, channeled the mood of each locale through her heroine's clothing utilized belted wool coats, vests and sweaters over elegantly cut dresses and trousers, for a winning boy-meets-girl mix in Berlin. As the locations fluidly changed to Shanghai, the prints got bolder and the silhouettes slimmer. Finally, our story ended in Manhattan with glittery Deco-inspired cocktail frocks, chiffon shirtdresses and work-worthy ensembles for the woman on the go that's independent and fun-loving.

Dresses of The Week

Did you really have to guess this? Just made the commitment to do a Dress of The Week Column, Shoe and maybe Bag of The Week Column since talking about dresses and shoes is what I do anyway. You definitely saw that coming, right? LOL Anyway, I remember seeing these beautiful long maxi dresses on the catwalk everywhere for the summer season and I wondered where I'd find them and what would be the most popular interpretation of them? I'm thinking long, flowy (Is flowy a word?), lots of material.....it's gonna be hot! I want a dress that's made with the weather in mind. It's got to float a little, you know? Dianne Von Furstenberg's "Washed Silk Strapless Maxi Dress." Beautifully colored in Emerald Green. I would also have liked to seen a red and a Emerald Blue but Ms. Furstenberg decided to stick with green. The next dress, this striped gypsy top dress is DKNY's contribution to the trend. They call it their "Long Stripe Off The Shoulder Habotai Dress." Comes in grey and white. The belt comes with it. I wouldn't wear a belt with it though, and if I did it would be solid black, grey or white. Both the Diane von Furstenberg and the DKNY are available at Bloomingdale's. This green dress with too many colors to name in it comes from Nordstrom. It called their "Single Dress Long Knot Front Dress." It has a beautiful mosaic print on it and it has "V" Neck. It's different. I venture to guess a little bit cooler on those oh-so-hot days to come.

Dress Of The Day

Sorry for the delay lovelies,

For the most part majority of the fashionista's out there live in bustling urban metropolises, which led me to our dress of the day. I remember struggling often to find dual purpose, femininity and functionality in clothes that I wore around the office. I am absolutely in love with Diane von Furstenberg's two-toned creation (along with the rest of her collection). The dress is tattooed with multi-purpose functionality. You can wear it to work on a nice spring day, not to mention if you don't have time to run home to change before that date (yes, that one) later on in the evening you can dress this up with a beautifully coordinated clutch. The ensemble is a showstopper, it combines the perfect match of modernism with a hint of classic Hollywood. Of course, you can find this beautiful creation (with the rest of Furstenberg's spring line) at Neiman Marcus and it currently runs for about $398.
