On The Campaign Trail: Gaultier Parfums

The campaign itself has started airing on French television stations and the editorial shot from the campaign was featured on WWD last week. It features model Agyness Deyn as the only model selected for the campaign. Deyn who is currently the face of Burberry, has the resume of a super{model} having posed for Mulberry, Blumarine and Giorgio Armani just to name a few. Gaultier also disclosed more details behind the concept of the name and why he wanted a "freshly electric" vibe from Ma Dame:

"The name Ma Dame is like a little French joke," he explained. "A 'madame' can be a woman of a bordello, and 'madame' can also mean someone bourgeois. Even in terms of dressing, 'to dress like a madame' in French is boring, super politically correct. But 'ma' 'dame' in two words means 'my dame.' It means she's not like the woman in the bordello or bourgeois. She's his muse."

On the resurgence of 'Fresh' perfumes:

"I wanted something that was fresh, not so voluptuous. I wanted some electricity.
.. We know there is a big opportunity, a big trend on the market toward fresh notes," said Polette-Danet, "and it's true the brand was totally absent from this market of freshness, both in men and in women."- JPG (Jean Paul Gaultier)
As for the "Ma Dame" herself, the perfume is comprised on a tangy grade of orange, blossoms of a velvet of rose, a drop of grenadine and rounds itself with musk and cedar. The velvet rose petals give the perfume its slight pink color which is presented in a glass flask that sculptures itself from the famous bust of John Paul Gaultier. And according to our reports the perfume will be available no earlier than September 1st for worldwide distribution.

Hair Envy

**Image courtesy of Toni & Guy Salons

If I were to talk to some psychiatrist, she {or he} would probably tell me that I have some type of issue with commitment which is why I can't commit to a certain hair color and sticking to it. Ever since my mother allowed me to get my hair dyed in high school, I have never stopped. I have just about every shade you can think of, with the exception of red {I refuse to go there, nah-uh}. Considering it's spring and the perfect time to reinvent oneself, I'm thinking of a totally new hair color. I could choose to stay at my present shade {a combination of blonds and browns that look similar to Beyonce} or I could go for the pure brunette again. But for the most part I am thinking that I will just go black, midnight black to be precise. My only concern it that I will come out looking completely washed out and like Elvira... Hmmm... Does anyone have any suggestions? Opinions? Comments?

Perfect Spring/ Summer Nail Hues

{SNEAK PEAK ALERT}

They're at it again. {And you thought they wouldn't be} MAC is back with a new hott fire collection coming out in May. The collection will be called Neo Sci Fi, but that's not why I am bringing this up right now. It's the time of year when everyone is dumping their Chanel Blue Satin and Dior Midnight Poison & Poison Blue shades for something a little more lighthearted. Something geared a little more towards the birth of renewal, translation, Spring. Ironically, the MAC powerhouse has the perfect prescription. All four nail colors that will be featured in the Neo Sci Fi collection are perfect for spring {and summer}

The Four Colors Are:
  • Phosphor {Bumblebee Yellow}
  • Neon 8 {Orange with Orange Pearl}
  • Plasma Blu {Turquoise Blue with White Pearl}
  • Metalist {Brown with White Pearl}

However, I understand that sometimes waiting a whole month for something hot to hit the shelves in store can be a bit too much too bear. So in light of that, here are some alternatives until the funky flyy colors hit:

Opi Nail Color in DS Jewel (Pictured Left) & DS Treasure
Nars in Domiva
Sephora Brand Nail Polish in Iridescent Rosy Copper

Sally Hansen Hard As Nails in Marine Scene (Pictured Left) and Crushed Frost
Sephora Nail Lacquer in Mangue, Curacoa, Mrytelle

Saving Face

What most people fail to realize is that make-up is just as much of a craze as the very clothing it helps showcase. And women, we love our faces, dont we. It's the one thing that we obsess about everyday of our lives. I have always been told that I have good skin and I want everyone else to have that same thing. So here are my basics for the flawless face with or without makeup, it's based on the Au Naturale trend this season:

THE ESSENTIALS:

FRESH PALATTE:

  • Concealer, I normally don't use full concealer because it clogs your pores and leads to more breakouts. Rather if I spot a pimple I just put a dab of concelear on that area (MAC Studio Finish SPF 15 $24.50, it's really lightwieght so it doesnt cake)
  • Blott Powder, this doesnt add any color it just adds a sheer coating and helps prevent shine. If you're clear from breakouts you can just opt for this instead of concealer (MAC Blot Powder $24.50, in your respecitve shade)
  • Lip Gloss, dependant upon how I feel I opt for two types of lip gloss, lightweight or thick (MAC Lipglass in Sheer $12 or FUZE Lip Gloss in Two-Faced $18.50)
