Garden Parties w/ McCartney

For her most recent resort show, McCartney held a garden party showing at West Village's Jefferson Market Garden. And to this ultra rare event she invited the likes of Lola Schnabel, Jeff Koons as well as others. Gingham picnic blankets and large retro swirl lollipops accompanied the models that modeled the looks of McCartney's 2009 resort collection. Her collection doesn't disappoint and I like every single article. From her signature T-shirt dresses all the way to her incredible mod-tailored blazers. My absolute faves of the collection however is worn by Chanel Iman, which is a nautical blue sailboat print dress that is accompanied by matching espadrilles and dime pouch clutch. And Kasia Struss who wears a khaki colored one-piece that reminds you of feminine chic that swallowed Old Hollywood style.

Revisited...

Well L.A. Fashion week ends later on today but all of the socialites will be partyin like rockstars throughout the weekend. And remember earlier in the week when I told you all that I would give you the scoop on Lauren Conrad and Nicky Hilton's clothing line debuts, well here it is. Now tell me you love me :)

While I normally enjoy rummaging through photos of the various Fashion Weeks across the globe, I was put into snooze mode when it came Lauren's collection. For the most part I really saw nothing new in her collection. It seems like she just took a ton of clothes from her closet, put them on the models and sent the down the runway. I can honestly say that I see no sustainability as far as high fashion goes. She stayed true to her "California Chic" statement. As you can see the basis for the line was a lot of jersey material. I wished she would have played with different fabrics a little more. Maybe I am being too hard on her, you be the judge:

Lauren had the support of many of her friends in the audience including Hills co-stars, Whitney Port (BTW: Elle Magazine reports, since leaving Teen Vogue has been working for PR firm Peoples Revolution), Audrina Patridge, Lauren "Lo" Bosworth, Franky Delgado, Brody Jenner and an irrelevant Kristin Cavallari.

Port, Patridge and Bosworths flirty party dresses sadly looked like they were taken straight from Conrad's showing (I couldn't find any reports of the designers the girls were wearing, But I think we already know). With that being said, on to Nicky at Nicholai

Nicky's showing of her latest Nicholai collection also was extremely reflective of her personal style (lots of trenches, knit tops, belted frocks and black latex leggings). In the end I believe Nicky's line could eventually evolve into a major line. Provided she buckles down and learns how to combine materials, patterns, techniques, styles, etc.

Now, I don't believe that these collections were bad collections, I just believe that they were more personal style being showcased versus actual major high fashion clothing lines. However, I do have to give it up to L.A. for using one of it's best assets, Celebrities. There is no better way than to show Paris, Milan and New York up by showcasing your celebrity talent.

Is it just me or is anybody else having a hard time finding really pretty (inexpensive) flirty skirts? Im seriously having a hard time. For once in my life I don't want to have to resort to Neiman Marcus for a really nice skirt. However, I manage to scrounge up some items. I just want you all to know that this list is not complete as I am still shopping and still searching. I can tell you that up and coming clothing boutique Anthroplogie has some very cute and intrisic skirts. I also managed to find one at Victoria Secrets.

Catalog Crazy

Okay, you know how you recieve all those catalogs, magazines and whatever else in the mail pertaining to fashion? This week I've got some pretty good looks out of them. Let's start with Spiegel. They are having their final winter sale. They have a couple of good looks in there too! Like this wide-legged pants suit. It's cute and smart and affordable. They also have a yellow blouse and gray skirt in there that are from their spring collection. The other catalog that caught my attention is the Victoria's Secret. Now Victoria's Secret always has some really qute things. Brook's Brothers has got some really neat deals going on now too. This white dress over at Ralph Lauren. It's a Blue Label and it's called the Lex Cotton Voile Dress. Qute, isn't it!

Welcome Back SPRING!!!!

Hello All

Welcome back to insider info on the latest fashion trends and what's to come in the future. Now here's a concern that were all worried about, SPRING. Everyone is starting to produce their ready-to-wear lines for spring/summer 2008 and the one reccurent theme is color and lots of it. Every year around this time we see the resurgence of bold, bright and magnificent colors much like the normal rebirth of spring. Year before last it was red, then last year was hint of the sea with aquamarine, now this year the "IT" color is YELLOW!!!! Ladies, no need to overhaul your closet and throw out all of your reds, aquas, royal blues, hot vivacious pinks and purples, instead try an infusion of these beautiful colors. Maybe a yellow dress with a posh purple satin Prada purse or a white Doo.Ri blouse with some Blue wide-legged Marc Jacob pants. In addition to this, if you don't feel that yellow is your color, there are more traditional colored pieces for spring such as pastel purple and aqua & sky blue hues. The great things about these colors it that you don't have to be a stylist to come up with a eye popping combination. Do not limit this season's broad color range to just dresses and accessories. be daring and bold by putting together a white blouse and pair of skinny jeans/ pants in hot pink much. If you have an afterwork affair to attend toss your normal purse and opt for a blue sequined clutch. Remember ladies, try and select your pieces carefully that way in a few more years once this trend makes a resurgence all you havew to do is dust these pieces off and when in doubt, mix and match.
