Autumn/Winter 2008-2009 will be an interesting affair for Diane von Furstenberg, more appropriately titled, "Foreign Affair" is the theme behind her most recent collection. "SHE always knew she would find her way through the rain drops...the mystery, the unknown, the infinite possibilities of a foreign affair," says Diane in the commentary for the shows notes. Her most recent collection dazzled the likes of Susan Sarandon, Rachel Zoe, Charlie Rose, Fran Lebowitz, LapoElkann, and others that attended the shoe in Bryant Park.
Foreign Affair is set in several locales that include Berlin, Shanghai and New York. Furstenberg, channeled the mood of each locale through her heroine's clothing utilized belted wool coats, vests and sweaters over elegantly cut dresses and trousers, for a winning boy-meets-girl mix in Berlin. As the locations fluidly changed to Shanghai, the prints got bolder and the silhouettes slimmer. Finally, our story ended in Manhattan with glittery Deco-inspired cocktail frocks, chiffon shirtdresses and work-worthy ensembles for the woman on the go that's independent and fun-loving.

Wallet Cameras - Sony Snap
Young Hwan Kim designed this concept camera for Sony dubbed the Snap..“Inspired by a man’s wallet, the surface is covered in leather. Like other ultra compact Cybershot camer
as, you slide the cover to activate, only it pivots from a corner for easy one handed operation,” Yanko Design notes. “Outside of that, it’s just another run-of-the-mill Cybershot.”Pretty sleek, understated design. I would definitely go for something like that.

Dress Of The Day
Today, I just so happened to come across this beautiful dress on my friend Fashion Ivy's blog. I think this is one of the prettiest dresses and it exemplifies spring at the moment. Its a beautiful turquoise blue dress that is by Catherine Maladrino. The Silk Georgette Blouson Dress is a part of Maladrino's spring 2008 collection and if you happen to be in New York you should check out the upcoming stock sale she is having {also featured on Fashion Ivy's site}

You Won't Catch Donatella At H&M
Donatella recently put all of those rumors of her doing a diffusion line for H&M to rest. She recently told a few people at the New York Times for their Times Talk series that while she has been asked several times over to do a more affordable diffusion line, she has refused.
During her talk with New York Times she also makes mention of the fact that she wasn't always leather clad with brilliant blonde hair. When she and her brother, the Versace founder Gianni were growing up in Italy, Gianni dressed her up and took her out to clubs. "Gianni told me, 'Why don't you do some highlights?' By eleven and a half, I was a little blonde. By 14, I was blonder. By 16, I was platinum," she said. In the conversation Donatella lets her guard down to discuss the pain that she's endured in her life and also reminisces about the White House Correspondents dinner, in which she calls the sometimes annoying Bush a "very simple man."

Wanna Make A Statment?
There are a few thing in life that are going to happen and thats exactly why they are predictable. For example, you're defiantely going to grow older, you will more than likely lose at least one boyfriend/ girlfriend... And my favorite, fashion is NEVER going to stay they same. Last years "It-bag"and hottest shoe {with the exception of Louboutins, his shoes are always a must have} is this going to be fall's must-have bauble. On the runways we have seen an explosion of jewelry of the extravagant sort. Statement pieces that include hexagon mirror crystals with meshed net, enamel colored curls and big bright horticulture bracelets. Some cute that remind you of Alice in Wonderland while others simply say "Proceed with Caution." One of my faves happen to be the whimisical flower bracelet from Marni. Here are some of the looks from the runways...

Christian LaCroix Garden Set
He designed the Rempoton trowel for La Redoute. Some other pieces from the La Redoute gardening line can be seen on their site, including the matching apron. Stunning, n’est pas?
For a woman of style who also enjoys having a beautiful garden, could there be a better mother’s day present?

Take A Bow
Ribbons. Bows. Now matter what you call them, they come in all different shapes and all sizes. Some are cute and dainty, perfect for decoration while others are demand attention as if they are the only thing that matters in a room. You see, now more than ever before I am noticing them trickle down to just about every other facet of life. {other than for the purpose of keeping certain shoes on your feet and decoration}Ever since Lagerfeld created a giant bow on set to showcase his s/s 2008 collection {which detailed stars and stripes forever} bows have been getting bigger, brighter and have become more of a fashion statement than staple. Even world renowned artist Maria Pergay has created a sculptured chair in the shape of the bow.

for Hollywood movies, TV shows, commercials, and the fashion industry, has a very impressive portfolio. The work you see in the gallery was commissioned by New York Magazine for a recent article. The shoes look incredibly realistic and its really impressive that there is no PhotoShop work involved here.

Gossip Girl: All About My Brother
Later on, we join Vanessa and Dan in Brooklyn at the cafe hanging out with their newly coined BFF Sara {aka Georgina/ Georgie}, who confesses that she can't wait until Dan and Vanessa introduce her to Serena. Meanwhile, Rufus and Lily are out shopping for Lily's upcoming nuptials to Bart Bass. But back at Casa de Humphrey a little later, Dan tries to talk to Jenny about what he saw Asher doing earlier in the day, but being young and impresionable has is disadvantages, Jenny gets made a belittles Dan telling him that Asher is everything that he has ever wanted to be, which is rich, handsome and cultured. Next day, mildy upset and desperate to reach Jenny before she does something that the will regret, he bumps into Blair who asks him something about Asher, but Blair informs him that by their world essentially revoling around Gossip Girl and their friends, that might be the best way to get to her. So Dan decides to tip his own sister off through means of GG.
After the tip to GG, we find Jenny in the halls of Constance Billard waking with her friends as soon as the tip comes in and the girls question Jenny about Asher. She quickly replies, "we went to third base, well I didn't he did." We finally catch back up with Serena who is getting ready to have a quiet dinner with their mother and brother when none other than Georgina shows up to crash the party. While at dinner Georgina just so happens to out the younger van der Woodsen, Eric about his homosexual frolicking. Lily clearly shocked and Serena on the brink of rage and sadness quickly goes to comfort him and asks why didn't he tell her. While everything is unfolding there Rufus catches Jenny in a lie about where she will be going later on in the week, while she's told him she is scheduled to go to choir practice during the time of her scheduled party. Meanwhile, Serena gets home to open a package that she has been alerted about. When she opens the packs, its a videotape inside and its from the night that Georgina drugged her. Mortified by what she's seen, she quickly hides the tape. Then a little later, Jenny is busy at Asher's place. While there Jenny tries to make a move on him and he declines. However, it becomes clear that Jenny knew all along that Asher was gay and that they were both indeed using each other for a certain status symbol. Asher offers her money and status within the most prominent cliques in the city as long as she continues to help him keep his homosexuality under wraps.
On the night of the party as Jenny gets ready to leave, Rufus, her dad, stops her and tells her that she can't go to the party and that she's going to have to cancel it. She shortly then walks out in order to be on time for the evenings events. Meanwhile, we catch Serena, Dan and Vanessa hanging out in a restaurant waiting for Sara to show up. Once she gets they're Serena realizes that its no one other than Georgina who's going by the alias. They have a few words and Georgina threatens to show the tape that she made of Serena to Dan and Vanessa. She blackmails Serena into pretending that they are friends so that she can continue to keep Dan in the dark about her secret, whatever it may be. As they're leaving Serena warns Dan no to trust her, but Dan gets mad and tells her that maybe she should just go home. Over at Jenny and Asher's party, we see Jenny trying to entertain guests while cuddling with Asher in order to keep everything together when Blair crashes the party and shows up with another guest, Eric van der Woodsen. Eric immediately goes to confront Asher about the fact that he's gay and in doing so comes out to everyone at the party. Asher denies it and calls Eric a faggot. Then Blair tells Jenny and Asher that she could ruin the both of them, but wont do it because of her loyalty to Eric, but Eric gives her the word to send the tip to GG about Jenny's little gay boyfriend. In doing so, her friends ask her what really happened and the truth comes out and they tell Jenny that they no longer want to be friends with her.
Winding down from the nights affairs, a broken Jenny shows up at Blair's house to tell her that she has won and she's done with the whole thing. Feeling defeated Jenny returns home and breaks down. The next day, Serena shows up at Blair's and breaks down {boy, Blair just stays busy}. She starts crying and telling Blair that she has a secret and thats why she hasn't been around lately. But she doesn't want to tell her because she doesn't want to get her involved. Eventually Serena cracks from carrying around such a secret and tells Blair that she killed someone.

Superhero's Really Do Exist
Last night's Costume Institute Gala certainly brought out stars and their best. And of course, when the best outfits come out, so do some of the worst. Majority of the invitees definitely experimented with the idea of being a superhero, even if only for one night. A few or our favorites were Zac Posen & Kate Mara, who look like the perfect Clark Kent and Louis Lane. But that's the reason I love Zac, he isn't afraid to gamble and it certainly paid off tonight. A few other of our faves were Anna Wintour herself, who go into the swing of things looking like she stepped right off of the mother ship, while Eva Longoria-Parker looked gorgeous in her deep plum dress, although if you look at it for too long, you'll start to think of eggplants and lettuce. Below is a list of Faves, Confused and Maybe Next Time:
Zac Posen and Kate Mara: Taking a gamble on blue, Posen really stands out in an effort to combine the blue leotard that Superman is known for while, combing it with the daily suit of Clark Kent and Kate looks wonderful in this canary yellow masterpiece
Christina Ricci looks quite lovely with her various tones of pink
Eva Longoria-Parker: I'll admit she looks like she may tip over any second from the weight of the dress, it's still quite beautiful
Anna Wintour is definitely the life of the party in this decadent metallic silver numberSlightly Indifferent:
Katie Holmes: While I somewhat like this dress mainly for its color, something is just off here
Maybe Next Time
Victoria "Posh" Beckham: While I almost hate to do this because she is with David, she just drug his stock down by 20% with this ensemble. I expect much more on the next outing Posh.
Lake Bell: No words, there just isn't anything that I can say to rationalize this to myselfPosted by Lexie H at 12:40 AM 0 comments
